Why I started Maddy Smith Mentoring
Years as a disability support worker taught me that the biggest breakthroughs rarely come from the big things. More often, they come from one routine, one conversation, one small win, or simply having someone in your corner who genuinely believes in you (it really does take a village sometimes!)
My understanding comes from both professional experience and lived experience. I became a single mum at 22 and spent ten years navigating the realities of raising a child largely on my own. I’ve also lived with ADHD, anxiety, periods of depression and chronic illness, so I understand what it can feel like when everyday life becomes harder than it looks from the outside.
Through my work and life, I’ve supported people navigating a wide range of challenges, including alcohol and prescription drug addiction, autism, ADHD, bipolar disorder, mental health challenges and disability.
These experiences have taught me that there is no one size fits all approach to support. People need to feel heard, understood and respected, not judged or told how they should be living their lives.
That’s why I created Maddy Smith Mentoring: to offer practical, down to earth support from someone who understands that sometimes progress starts with having one steady person beside you. I won’t have all the answers, but I will be there right by your side as we work it out together.

Practical support for real life.
You don’t need another assessment, or someone telling you what you should be doing. Sometimes you just need someone supportive in your corner to help work out what comes next, and to be there while you take the step.

This may be for you if
- You feel stuck and are not sure where to start.
- You know what you want to change, but following through is hard.
- Life admin and routines keep getting on top of you.
- You want more confidence and independence.
- You would like someone supportive in your corner, without feeling judged.
Mentoring isn’t therapy, counselling or crisis support. If what you need is diagnosis, clinical treatment, urgent help or an agency managed registered NDIS provider, that is a different kind of service, and the numbers at the bottom of this page are the right place to start.

Most chosen
NDIS participants who self manage or use a plan manager may be able to access these services where appropriate to their plan, invoiced under the applicable support item and current NDIS Pricing Arrangements. Eligibility isn’t automatic, so it’s worth checking with your Support Coordinator, Plan Manager or Local Area Coordinator.
Real change doesn’t happen overnight. It happens in small, consistent steps, and sometimes all we need is someone walking beside us.

You don’t have to figure it all out alone.
Send me a note and tell me a little about what you’re looking for. I’ll reply personally with two or three times that could work, and we’ll pick the one that suits you.
A free 20 minute discovery call is a good place to start. Choose it when you send your enquiry.
